Description

Uszka z Grzybami are small Polish dumplings filled with mushrooms, traditionally served during Christmas Eve.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, water, egg, and salt to form a dough.
  2. Roll the dough thinly and cut into small squares.
  3. Sauté onions and mushrooms in butter until soft. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Place a small amount of filling in each dough square.
  5. Fold the dough into triangles and pinch edges to seal.
  6. Boil in salted water for 3-4 minutes until they float.
  7. Serve hot with broth or butter.

Notes

  • You can use dried mushrooms for a stronger flavor.
  • Make sure the edges are sealed well to prevent filling from leaking.
  • Freeze uncooked dumplings for later use.
