Description

A traditional Romanian New Year’s Eve cake, rich in flavors and perfect for celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 500g flour
  • 200g sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 200g butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 200ml milk
  • 100g walnuts, chopped
  • 100g raisins

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Mix flour, sugar, and baking powder in a bowl.
  3. Add eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and milk. Mix well.
  4. Fold in walnuts and raisins.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let it cool before serving.

Notes

  • You can replace walnuts with almonds if preferred.
  • Soak raisins in warm water for 10 minutes before adding them to the batter.
  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving for extra sweetness.
