Description

Traditional Slovak Christmas Eve snacks and drinks.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g poppy seeds
  • 200g walnuts
  • 200g honey
  • 1 loaf of white bread
  • 1 liter milk
  • 1kg apples
  • 500ml red wine
  • 200g sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 vanilla pod

Instructions

  1. Grind poppy seeds and walnuts separately.
  2. Mix honey with ground poppy seeds.
  3. Cut bread into slices and soak in milk.
  4. Layer bread with poppy seed mixture.
  5. Peel and slice apples.
  6. Heat wine with sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla.
  7. Serve bread layers with apples and warm wine.
