Description
A traditional Polish spiced gingerbread cookie, often decorated with icing for festive occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500g flour
- 200g honey
- 100g sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp gingerbread spice mix
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 100g butter
- Icing sugar for decoration
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Mix flour, honey, sugar, egg, spices, and baking soda in a bowl.
- Melt butter and add to the mixture. Knead into a dough.
- Refrigerate the dough for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Roll out the dough and cut into desired shapes.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the cookies cool completely before decorating.
- Prepare icing by mixing icing sugar with water. Pipe designs onto the cookies.
Notes
- Store decorated cookies in an airtight container.
- Dough can be made ahead and kept in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Use different food colors for festive designs.
