Description

Traditional Polish Christmas gingerbread cookies, known as Pierniczki Świąteczne, are spiced, sweet, and often decorated with icing.


Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 250g honey
  • 100g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Mix honey, sugar, and butter in a saucepan. Heat until sugar dissolves.
  2. Cool the mixture, then add the egg and spices.
  3. Gradually add flour and baking soda, kneading into a smooth dough.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut into shapes.
  5. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 10-12 minutes.
  6. Decorate with icing if desired.
