Description

Perníčky are traditional Czech gingerbread cookies, often decorated with icing. They are popular during holidays and festive occasions.


Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 200g honey
  • 150g powdered sugar
  • 100g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Mix honey, sugar, and butter in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Add the egg and mix well.
  3. Combine flour, baking soda, and spices in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, kneading until a dough forms.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  6. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  7. Roll out the dough to about 5mm thickness and cut into desired shapes.
  8. Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  9. Let cool before decorating with icing.
