Description
Mini croque monsieur apero is a delicious French-inspired appetizer featuring small toasted sandwiches with ham and cheese.
Ingredients

- 8 slices of white bread
- 4 slices of ham
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup béchamel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Spread Dijon mustard on one side of each bread slice.
- Layer ham and Gruyère cheese on half the slices, then top with the remaining slices.
- Butter the outer sides of each sandwich.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and toast the sandwiches until golden on both sides.
- Transfer to a baking sheet, top with béchamel sauce and extra cheese.
- Bake for 5-7 minutes until the cheese melts and bubbles.
- Cut into small squares and serve warm.
Notes
- Use fresh bread for the best texture.
- Substitute Gruyère with Emmental if preferred.
- Serve immediately for the best taste.
