Description
A hearty Hungarian dish made with lentils, vegetables, and spices.
Ingredients

- 500g lentils
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 liter water or vegetable broth
Instructions
- Rinse the lentils under cold water.
- Heat oil in a pot and sauté the onion until translucent.
- Add the carrots and garlic, cook for 2 minutes.
- Stir in the paprika, lentils, bay leaf, and water or broth.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes until lentils are tender.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- You can add potatoes or other vegetables if desired.
- For a richer flavor, use smoked paprika.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
