Description
Kapusta z Grochem is a traditional Polish dish combining cabbage and peas for a hearty, flavorful meal.
Ingredients

- 1 medium cabbage, chopped
- 1 cup dried peas, soaked overnight
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 cups water or vegetable broth
Instructions
- Drain soaked peas and rinse.
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until soft.
- Add chopped cabbage and cook until slightly wilted.
- Stir in peas, salt, pepper, and bay leaf.
- Pour in water or broth, bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 45-50 minutes until peas are tender.
- Remove bay leaf before serving.
Notes
- Soak peas overnight to reduce cooking time.
- Add smoked sausage or bacon for extra flavor if desired.
- Serve with rye bread.
