Description
A simple and delicious steak recipe perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) steak (ribeye, sirloin, or your preferred cut)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
Instructions
- Remove the steak from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Pat the steak dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Heat a skillet or grill over high heat and add olive oil.
- Place the steak in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust time for preferred doneness).
- Add butter and herbs to the pan during the last minute of cooking, basting the steak with melted butter.
- Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate doneness: 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, 140°F (60°C) for medium.
- Letting the steak rest ensures juiciness.
- For extra flavor, marinate the steak for 1-2 hours before cooking.
