Description

A traditional Romanian Christmas dessert made with layers of sweet dough and walnuts.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g flour
  • 200g sugar
  • 200g butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 200g ground walnuts
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 100ml milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and butter in a bowl.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, knead into dough.
  4. Divide dough into 4 equal parts.
  5. Roll each part into thin sheets.
  6. Layer sheets with ground walnuts in between.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Cut into squares while warm.

Notes

  • Let the dough rest for 30 minutes before rolling.
  • Use fresh walnuts for best flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container.
