Description
A simple recipe for preparing śledzie, a traditional Polish dish made with pickled herring.
Ingredients

- 4 pickled herring fillets
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- Fresh dill for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse the herring fillets under cold water and pat dry.
- Slice the onion thinly and set aside.
- In a bowl, mix sour cream, mustard, sugar, and vinegar.
- Layer the herring fillets and onions in a dish.
- Pour the sour cream mixture over the herring.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Garnish with fresh dill before serving.
Notes
- You can add apple slices for extra sweetness.
- Serve with boiled potatoes or dark rye bread.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
