Description
Crinkles are soft, chewy cookies with a cracked, crinkled top. They are often coated in powdered sugar for a sweet finish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls, then coat each ball in powdered sugar.
- Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
- Do not overbake, as the cookies will firm up as they cool.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
