Ingredients

- 1 cup basmati rice
- 2 cups water
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 clove garlic, minced
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
- Add the rinsed rice and stir for 1 minute.
- Pour in water, add salt, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Turn off the heat, stir in chopped basil, and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
- Fluff with a fork before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh basil for the best flavor.
- Adjust salt to taste.
- For a richer taste, replace water with vegetable or chicken broth.
