Description

A traditional Polish herring salad with layers of flavors.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 300g pickled herring fillets, chopped
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 boiled eggs, chopped
  • 200g sour cream
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh dill for garnish

Instructions

  1. Drain and chop the herring fillets.
  2. Peel and dice the apples.
  3. Finely chop the onion.
  4. Chop the boiled eggs.
  5. In a bowl, mix sour cream, mustard, and lemon juice.
  6. Combine herring, apples, onion, and eggs in a large bowl.
  7. Add the sour cream mixture and gently toss.
  8. Season with salt and pepper.
  9. Garnish with fresh dill before serving.

Notes

  • Best served chilled.
  • Can be prepared a day ahead for better flavor.
