Description
A traditional Polish herring salad with layers of flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 300g pickled herring fillets, chopped
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 boiled eggs, chopped
- 200g sour cream
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh dill for garnish
Instructions
- Drain and chop the herring fillets.
- Peel and dice the apples.
- Finely chop the onion.
- Chop the boiled eggs.
- In a bowl, mix sour cream, mustard, and lemon juice.
- Combine herring, apples, onion, and eggs in a large bowl.
- Add the sour cream mixture and gently toss.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Garnish with fresh dill before serving.
Notes
- Best served chilled.
- Can be prepared a day ahead for better flavor.
- Use firm apples for better texture.
