Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and molasses.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until well combined.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls, place on baking sheets, and flatten slightly.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are set. Cool on wire racks.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
- Dough can be chilled for 30 minutes if too soft.
- Decorate with icing or sugar if desired.
