Description
Butter tofu is a creamy and flavorful dish made with tofu cooked in a rich buttery sauce. It’s a vegetarian alternative to butter chicken, offering a similar taste and texture.

- 400g firm tofu, cubed
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Press tofu to remove excess water, then cube it.
- Heat butter in a pan and sauté onion, garlic, and ginger until soft.
- Add turmeric, cumin, garam masala, and chili powder. Cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in tomato puree and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add tofu cubes and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Pour in heavy cream and mix well. Simmer for 2 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
Notes
- For a firmer texture, fry tofu before adding to the sauce.
- Adjust spice levels to your preference.
- Serve with rice or naan bread.
