Description

Butter tofu is a creamy and flavorful dish made with tofu cooked in a rich buttery sauce. It’s a vegetarian alternative to butter chicken, offering a similar taste and texture.


Ingredients

  • 400g firm tofu, cubed
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Press tofu to remove excess water, then cube it.
  2. Heat butter in a pan and sauté onion, garlic, and ginger until soft.
  3. Add turmeric, cumin, garam masala, and chili powder. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Stir in tomato puree and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Add tofu cubes and cook for another 5 minutes.
  6. Pour in heavy cream and mix well. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a firmer texture, fry tofu before adding to the sauce.
  • Adjust spice levels to your preference.
  • Serve with rice or naan bread.
