Description

A classic French Yule log cake, known for its rich chocolate flavor and festive decoration.


Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • 150g granulated sugar
  • 100g all-purpose flour
  • 30g cocoa powder
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 200g heavy cream
  • 50g powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  3. Sift flour and cocoa powder, then fold into the egg mixture.
  4. Spread the batter evenly on the baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Let the cake cool slightly, then roll it tightly with a clean towel.
  6. Melt chocolate with cream, then cool to room temperature.
  7. Unroll the cake, spread the chocolate filling, and roll it again.
  8. Chill for at least 2 hours before decorating.

Notes

  • Use room-temperature eggs for better volume.
  • Dust with powdered sugar for a snowy effect.
  • Decorate with meringue mushrooms for a traditional look.
