A rich and decadent chocolate log cake, perfect for festive occasions or as a dessert centerpiece.
Ingredients

- 200g dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
- 100g unsalted butter
- 4 large eggs, separated
- 100g granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 50g all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- 100g heavy cream (for filling)
- 50g powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt chocolate and butter in a double boiler. Let it cool slightly.
- Whisk egg yolks with half the sugar until pale. Mix in vanilla.
- Fold melted chocolate into yolk mixture.
- Beat egg whites with salt until soft peaks form. Gradually add remaining sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold egg whites into chocolate mixture in three additions.
- Sift flour over batter and fold until just combined.
- Spread batter evenly onto prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
- Let cake cool slightly, then roll it up with a clean towel. Let it cool completely.
- Unroll, spread with whipped cream, then re-roll. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Use room temperature eggs for best results.
- Do not overbake to prevent cracking.
- Chill before slicing for cleaner cuts.
