Description

Braised tofu is a simple and flavorful dish made by simmering tofu in a savory sauce. It’s a great way to enjoy tofu with a rich, tender texture.


Ingredients

  • 1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, drained and cubed
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds.
  2. Add tofu cubes and cook until lightly browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and vegetable broth. Stir well.
  4. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes.
  5. Stir in cornstarch mixture to thicken the sauce.
  6. Garnish with green onions and serve hot.

  • Use firm or extra-firm tofu for best results.
  • Adjust soy sauce to taste if needed.
