- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Frosting of choice (buttercream, cream cheese, etc.)
- Sprinkles or decorative toppings (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk, starting and ending with flour. Stir in vanilla.
- Divide batter evenly between pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost and decorate as desired. Add sprinkles or other toppings for a festive touch.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add 1 tsp of almond or lemon extract.
- Use gel food coloring for vibrant frosting colors.
- Store leftover cake in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
